About Us
Welcome to the Official Website of Club Ambato of Los Angeles!
Here you’ll find information about our organization. Our club members are committed to support Ecuador’s province of Tungurahua and city of Ambato with humanitarian aid and financial contributions, as well as representing the Ecuadorian emigrant community in Los Angeles through our yearly participation in Ambato’s annual carnival festivities. We are Los Angeles’s oldest and better established Ecuatorian organization and hope to provide a channel to foster communication and understanding about both Ambato and Los Angeles to its respective peoples.
Our History
On November 6th, 1971, a member of the Ecuadorian community in Los Angeles, and a native of Ambato, found himself in great hardship. Galo Flores, a determined “Ambateño”, upon learning of this individual’s plight, organized a meeting in his home’s garage. He communicated to them his worry and invited them to generate ideas to help their fellowman as best they could. After the positive outcome of this episode, the idea to form a club for natives of Ambato was born, although Ecuatorians from the city of Quito were also present. Club Social, Cultural y Deportivo Ambato de Los Angeles (Social, Cultural and Sports Club, Ambato of Los Angeles), commenced as club of Ecuadorians. Today, almost four decades after it’s founding, Club Ambato of Los Angeles is composed of members from various provinces from Ecuador and from many nations of the world.
